Professional Goals: As the world is evolving so is technology, with that comes change in the way people are taught and how they process information. Currently I am a middle school teacher and it is evident to me that each year the students are more engrossed in learning through technology. As I go out into the professional world with a degree in Learning Design & Technology I look forward to working in the corporate setting as a performance consultant. I hope to work side by side with a corporation’s human resource department and their senior management division to come up with and provide guidance on industry practices and better employee performance. Personal Goals: My personal goals have changed many times over the last twenty years, I guess that comes with age or more precisely experience. The goals that are most important to me right now are maintaining a low stress and happy life. My personal goals for my current career as a middle school teacher are to have students who graduate from my class knowing I truly care about them. I want them to leave my classroom knowing they are important to someone. I also am striving to educate them with the tools they will need to succeed in high school and beyond. With all the pressure of meeting state requirements and testing it is easy to forget why I became a teacher and what my goals were when I started the journey, my personal goal is to focus on putting the student first before anything else. Learning Statement: I have discovered many things in my time on this earth, but I have come to appreciate the value of always learning. I have realized that as I get older I am better at prioritizing my time for all my responsibilities. I love studying about how people learn and the many different processes that are used to help them understand new information. I also enjoy learning about how to use new technology to implement my instruction and how it can help in many other career fields. I look forward to learning many new things in the next two years at Wayne State and cannot wait to use them in my daily life. Self-Reflection: I think positively and enthusiastically about people and their capabilities. I am communicative, I can share with others in a way that encourages an effective two-way conversation. This is an important skill as a teacher because we must be able to listen to students in an empathetic way. This assures the students' that they can come to me and be assured the conversation will not fall onto deaf ears. I am dependable and live up to the commitments I make to students and others. I am personable and get to know my students' as individuals not just as a group. Above all I am patient, I look at all aspects of the situation and remain highly fair and objective under very difficult circumstances.
